Mon, Nov 30, 2009 - Back from MCP9!

Montreal Cosplay Photoshoot 9 was great! I'm glad and relieved to see that most people were satisfied with our shoot, even though we had to move it from the Chateau St-Ambroise to to Jean-Drapeau Park. I have no official word on the final attendance numbers, but it was somewhere between 40 and 60 people. The sweepstakes was done a bit early because it was estimated to take a long time, and the skies were getting dark fast with overcast clouds.

I went there with the early group, scouted the area and claimed the Tower as my landmark of choice. Of course, many others would soon join me at that landmark, and most cosplayers were hanging around there, which in turn gave in a first, unique situation: there was, at a certain moment, more photographers than cosplayers!!

I most spent the day with a Naruto Akatsuki group, then joined & friends for a general Naruto shoot, then did a short small shoot with before being all called for the sweepstakes. We established a "Base Camp" in an empty gravel parking lot not too far from the metro station, and it was there that we did our pre-shoot briefing and the sweepstakes.

Since attendance was lower than expected (90+ Confirmed, but less came), almost everyone got a prize (except those who left early)! We finished the day by eat at La Popessa, our usual after-shoot hangout (great selection of sauces and pastas). I took 700+ shots, but only half of them are cosplay while the other half are either journalistic or random shots. They'll be posted once I finish uploading my KH Photoshoot and Halloween Party photos!
