Henrickson's Cosplay Photo-taking Tutorial #1:
Crouch When Shooting
This is the first of a series of cosplay photo-taking tutorials that I'm going to write in the next few days. The second and later ones will be written after Otakuthon.
I "discovered" this technique at group photoshoots. When there's a row of photographers taking pictures of lined-up cosplayers, they would all stand. With the spot to get a decent, centered picture already taken, the next closest ones are either behind & above the center photographer, or below & in front of him. Since I'm short, I chose the latter, so I crawled my way in front of the photographers to my spot and took my shots there.
Also, this way prevents you from hiding the photographer standing behind you. It's ugly to see big dark heads, hair or hats in your cosplay photos!
Warning: If you "shoot from the feet/toes"... you might be considered an upskirt pervert! I think the knees should be the lowest you can shoot from.

Comments welcome.

Thanks for the tip.
I've actually used this for non-cosplay photos and gotten nice results.
